I can't come down very hard on people that withhold excessive monies and get a too large tax refund like say 2k on a 19k gross, better than owing money you'll never catch up on

These types do some really stupid things though, like intentionally holding on to change as a savings method and then cashing it in at a Coinstar machine when they get to a couple of hundred dollars and cashing it in at a Coinstar kiosk when they need a few bucks for something.

The Coinstar fee is like 11 percent ! At the very least pick out the quarters and roll them, any merchant will accept a roll of quarters.
Pay for your purchase at Walmart at the self checkout machine, you can pump $50 in coins into one of those machines.

Paying 11 percent or whatever is insane ! When I was a Walmart cashier , I'd get idiot customers that would buy coin wrappers, tell them the bank will give them to you free, they still buy them.

Then you get idiots that buy stuff like toilet paper one roll at a time for say $ 1.19 a roll and they buy 3 of them for $3.57, a 12 pack is like $5.99 on sale and there is a display of it ,50 feet away...

You point out that they should buy that, they don't see your logic

I guess they can't plan far enough ahead beyond neding 9 more rolls of TP ?

People are strange.

not surprised

to be fair they have a tighter budget so bulk purchasing is more difficult

the biggest issue they have is limited income and not using time wisely to generate more income. but intelligence and discipline aren't really traits you see with poor people...if you do run into someone like that, you hope they are young, stay the course, and make it out of poverty. but the rest are going to be left behind.

Cigarettes definitely tops on that list. You at least have a prayer of a chance of winning with lottery, but cigs at $10 a pack and a pack a day is $300/ month, tough to do on $10/ hour part-time. $2-5 a week for lottery is a lot better and healthier bad habit to have.

Cigs are for the stupid, much like religion ! The dumber you are the more likely you are to smoke and actually believe that biblical BS literally.

I have no problem with someone going to church as a social thing and doing positive things for the community, yada, yada...

Actually believing the rhetoric demonstrates low intelligence.

a few years ago, my wife was a manager for a company that had a low wage workers.

They used to comment how they had a better iPhone than her, better nails, and a better purse.

Lowers earners always find a way to make 10 and spend 12

Moving from one side of town to the other closer to work. Brags how much gas they save in a month $100 but end up paying $300 more in rent.

The poor excessively buy groceries and let perishables like veggies and fruit go to waste. Then they restock again in the next go round. They buy the magazines at the check out register. The poor throw tons of money at the lottery. I would guess almost 5-8% of their net pay. Cigarettes and alcohol for sure. They eat out alot.

Heres another thing I notice. They're always buying something daily. This is separate from gas money or commute fare. They're always spending something needless at walmart or some convenience store.
